Event Description: 2013 Environmental Conference

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Environmental Conference on May 14, 2014 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center in Charleston, WV.  The Environmental Conference is the most comprehensive, informative and practical seminar on the significant state, regional and national environmental issues that may affect operations and business activities in the state of West Virginia. Click here for full agenda. The day-long event is well attended by environmental professionals from almost every segment of the regulated community.

This event has been approved by the West Virginia State Bar for 6.7 MCLE credits!
 
 
Presenters will include leading experts in environmental law and regulation from the private sector as well as top government regulators and program managers including:

Kristen Lingley, Director of federal lands and regulatory affairs, Independent Petroleum Association of America, who will provide an overview how the US Fish and Wildlife Service implementation of the Endangered Species Act will impact economic development in West Virginia.

Alexandra Dunn, Executive Director, Environmental Council of States, will discuss the proposed federal Chemical Safety and Drinking Water Protection Act of 2014 and discuss the states’ assessment of the need for national legislation to manage source water protection and what other states have done to manage the regulatory gap for above ground storage tanks.

William Kovacs, Sr. Vice President Environment, Technology & Regulatory Affairs, US Chamber of Commerce, will provide an overview of environmental regulations and the need for rulemaking reform that is being debated at the federal level.
 
Randy Huffman, WV DEP Cabinet Secretary, will update attendees on agency initiatives for 2014 and 2015.
 
Gene Trisko economist and lawyer, will speak to impacts of carbon regulation on both the regional and national economic landscape.
 
Charles Patton, President, Appalachian Electric Power, will address electric grid reliability in the face of additional environmental regulation.
