Event Description: 2013 Environmental Conference

2015EnvConf_450

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Environmental Conference on May 19, 2015 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center in Charleston, WV.  The Environmental Conference is the most comprehensive, informative and practical seminar on the significant state, regional and national environmental issues that may affect operations and business activities in the state of West Virginia. The day-long event is well attended by environmental professionals from almost every segment of the regulated community.

Agenda

  • Aboveground Storage Tank Act.  Join the Chamber with environmental professionals and specialists from throughout the state for a panel discussion between WVDEP officials and members of the regulated community on how the changes to the Aboveground Storage Tank Act will be implemented.

  • Source Water Protection.  Hear real life examples of the importance of Source Water Protection Plans and how the respective groups will be addressing those plans.

  • Permitting.  Learn about the increasingly difficult 404 permitting process, impacts of legislation to designate the Kanawha River as supporting the public drinking water supply, and new air permitting developments.

  • ORSANCO Status Report.  ORSANCO officials will provide an overview of its proposed changes to pollution control standards that will impact the Ohio River.

  • Ozone – New Proposed Standards.  Find out the latest related to solid waste and the proposed National Ambient Air Quality Standards for Ozone.

  • Clean Power Plan Politics.  A former Executive Director of the American Coalition of Clean Coal Electricity and a major West Virginia energy consumer will discuss the private and public reaction to the Clean Power Act.

  • Electrical Grid Reliability.  Representatives from West Virginia’s major electricity producers will join with a representative of PJM to provide insight into system reliability in light of the announced shutdown of generation capacity later this year.
